While 2020 has been low for movies, 2021 and 2022 will have some of the most anticipated sequels of all time!

Fast And Furious 9 - May 28, 2021

Originally set to be released May 22, 2020 then pushed be released on April 2, 2021. Now the film will be released on May 28, 2021. Fast And Furious 9 is the next installment in the popular Fast And Furious series. The cast includes Charlize Theron as Cipher, Vin Diesel as Dominic Toretto, Michelle Rodriguez as Letty Ortiz, Helen Mirren as Magdalene Shaw, Jordana Brewster as Mia, Lucas Black as Sean Boswell, Nathalie Emmanuel as Ramsey, Michael Rooker as Buddy, and John Cena as Jakob Toretto.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage - June 25, 2021

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is the first sequel in the separate Sony Marvel Universe. Directed by Andy Serkis, the Venom sequel's plot is currently unknown. Though poorly reviewed by critics, Venom was embraced by audiences grossing $856.1 Million. The cast for the sequel includes: Tom Hardy as Eddie Brock/Venom, Michelle Williams as Anne Weying, Woody Harrelson as Cletus Kasady, Naomie Harris as Shriek (rumored), and Stephen Graham.

Minions: The Rise of Guru - July 2, 2021

A sequel set to hit theaters earlier this summer, Minions: The Rise of Gru will now be released on July 2nd, 2021 just in time for July 4th weekend. The film is set after the 2015 film with Kyle Balda returning to direct with Pierre Coffin voicing the minions everyone loves Kevin, Stuart, Bob and Otto. Steve Carell stars as Gru, Taraji P. Henson as Belle Bottom, Julie Andrews as Marlena Gru, Alan Arkin as Wild Knuckles, Danny Trejo as Stronghold, and Lucy Lawless as Nunchuck.

Top Gun: Maverick - July 2, 2021

Another film to be released July 4th weekend is the highly anticipated sequel to Top Gun: Maverick featuring the return of Tom Cruise as the legendary Pete "Maverick" Mitchell and Val Kilmer as Admiral Tom "Iceman" Kazansky. The film will also star a new cast including Miles Teller as as Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw who is the son of Nick "Goose" Bradshaw. The film also stars Jennifer Connelly as Penny Benjamin, Jon Hamm as Vice Admiral Cyclone, Glen Powell as "Hangman", and Lewis Pullman as Bob and directed by Joseph Kosinski.

Space Jam: A New Legacy - July 16, 2021

Arguably the most anticipated animated sequel in history, The Looney Tunes basketball ball film will finally return to screens with Space Jam: A New Legacy. Replacing NBA All-Star Michael Jordan is three time NBA Champion LeBron James.

Halloween Kills - October 15, 2021

Michael Meyers was expected to scare audiences on October 16, 2020 but due to the pandemic the film has been moved to October 15, 2021. The film features the return of Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Judy Greer as Karen Nelson, Andi Matichak as Allyson Nelson, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, and Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace. The direct sequel to the film be will be released October 14, 2022.

Mission: Impossible 7 - November 19, 2021

One of the greatest action series of all time will return to the big screen on November 19th. Directed by Christopher McQuarrie, the cast includes Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Rebecca Ferguson as Isla Faust, and Vanessa Kirby as White Widow. The plot is currently unknown.

Spider-Man 3 - December 17, 2021

When Spider-man: Far From Home's post credit scene ended, fans were in shock. Directed by Jon Watts, Untitled Spider-Man Sequel is the 3rd Spider-man film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While no information has been released about the plot, the film will follow Peter Parker as he deals with the reveal of his identity and being framed for Mysterio's "death." The cast includes Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-man, and Zendaya as MJ.

Matrix 4 - December 22, 2021

Matrix 4 is the long awaited 4th installment in the famous Matrix series. Directed by Lana Wachowski, this film will continue the story of the 18 year old film, The Matrix Reloaded. The cast includes Keanu Reeves as Neo, Carrie-Anne Moss as Trinity, Jonathan Groff, Jessica Henwick, Priyanka Chopra, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Neil Patrick Harris.

The plot for the film is currently unknown. The film was set to be released in theaters on May 21, 2021 but postponed to April 1, 2022, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. However the film was moved up to December 22, 2021.

Sing 2 - December 22, 2021

The animated sequel from Ilumination was set to be released Christmas 2020 but audiences will have to wait. The film has been pushed back as Universal Pictures decided to release the film on December 22, 2021 and set to have the return of the original stars including Matthew McConaughey as Buster Moon, Reese Witherspoon as Rosita, Seth MacFarlane as Mike, Scarlett Johansson as Ash, Nick Kroll as Gunter, Taron Egerton as Johnny and Tori Kelly as Meena.

Scream 5 - January 14, 2022

Anticipated film horror film Scream 5 is directed by Matt Bettinellu-Olpin and Tyler Gillett. The new installment of the franchise will have Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell) return to her home town. The film also has returning stars David Arquette as Dewey Riley, Marley Shelton as Deputy Judy Hicks, Courtney Cox as Gale Weathers while the film features new stars including Jack Quaid, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Kyle Gallner, Dylan Minnette, and Mason Gooding.

Legally Blonde 3 - May 20, 2022

Plot details haven't been revealed yet for the third installment, but we are excited to see Reese Witherspoon return as Elle Woods. In a Twitter post MGM confirmed the film was set to be released on May 8, 2020, but now it has been confirmed to be released on May 20, 2022. The film will be directed by Jamie Suk while Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor will write a new script.

John Wick: Chapter 4 - May 27, 2022

With impressive success at the box office and from audiences of the third installment it was announced the film was set to be released on May 21, 2022. However, it was announced that Lionsgate decided to delay the film to May 27, 2022 due to the pandemic. John Feltheimer the CEO of Lionsgate confirmed that the fifth film was also being developed and will be shot back-to-back with the fourth installment.

Jurassic World: Dominion - June 10, 2022

Chris Pratt and company will welcome movie goers back to Jurassic World on June 10, 2022. Directed by Colin Trevorrow, Jurassic World: Dominion, is the third film in the Jurassic World series. The cast includes: Chris Pratt as Owen Grady, Bryce Dallas Howard as Claire Dearing, Jake Johnson as Lowery Cruthers, Jeff Goldblum as Ian Malcolm, Sam Neill as Alan Grant, Laura Dern as Ellie Sattler, Dichen Lachman, Daniella Pineda as Zia Rodriguez, and BD Wong as Dr. Henry Wu.

Fantastic Beasts 3 - July. 15, 2022

The 3rd installment has sparked some controversy. The Harry Potter prequel series was set to bring magic back to theaters on November 12, 2021, but now the new film will be released during the summer of 2022. The film will be directed by David Yates and the cast includes Grindelwald, Katherine Waterston as Tina Goldstein, Ezra Miller as Credence Barebone / Aurelius Dumbledore, Jude Law as Albus Dumbledore, and Eddie Redmayne Newt Scamander. Warner Brothers also recently announced that they are replacing Johnny Depp with Mads Mikkelsen to play Gellert.

The world of Pandora will finally return to the big screen on December 16, 2022. While scheduled to be released for December 16, 2021 but was moved. Directed by James Cameron, the long awaited sequel will bring all the core characters from the original film back. The cast includes Oona Chaplin as Varang, Oona Chaplin as Neytiri, Vin Diesel, and Sam Worthington as Jake Sully. The plot is currently unknown.
