After the Maria actress revealed she wasn't invited, Riff had something to say about it.

After Rachel Zegler, star of Steven Spielberg's "West Side Story," revealed she wasn't invited to the Oscars, an actor from the original film came out ready to rumble for her.

Russ Tamblyn, who played Riff in the 1961 film, took to Twitter to directly call out the Academy for their decision.

He tweeted,

“@TheAcademy As a voting member and the original Riff, let me say: it’s your duty to find Rachel a seat at the Oscars. She STARS in #Westsidestory which is nominated across the board. When they say representation matters, this is what that means. Please do right by her."

Despite winning the Golden Globe for her performance as Maria, Zegler was neither nominated for nor invited to the upcoming Oscars ceremony.

“West Side Story” was nominated for Best Picture, Best Director for Spielberg, Best Supporting Actress for Ariana DeBose, Best Costume Design, Best Sound, Best Production Design and Best Cinematography. Zegler is not nominated for any awards personally, therefore was not invited.

Zegler previously revealed the news to fans when she was asked what she'd be wearing to the event. She responded,

“I’m not invited so sweatpants and my boyfriend’s flannel.”

When fans were understandably upset, Zegler clarified,

“Idk y’all I have tried it all but it doesn’t seem to be happening. I will root for west side story from my couch and be proud of the work we so tirelessly did three years ago. I hope some last minute miracle occurs and I can celebrate our film in person but hey, that’s how it goes sometimes, I guess. Thanks for all the shock and outrage — I’m disappointed, too. But that’s okay. So proud of our movie.”

As of now, the situation still has not been rectified, and the Academy has yet to comment. Zegler released one last update, which read,

“My goodness, folks!! Appreciate all the support, I really really do. We live in such unprecedented times, and a lot of work behind the scenes goes into making movie magic happen. That goes for film productions and awards shows alike. Let’s all just respect the process and I’ll get off my phone.”
