Fans will have to wait a little while longer before they can watch Ethan Hunt save the world from danger again!

Paramount Pictures and Skydance released a statement Friday that the release of "Mission: Impossible 7" will be moved from Sept. 20 to July 14, 2023. "Mission: Impossible 8," which was previously set for July 2023, will instead premiere June 28, 2024.

The studios said in a joint statement,

“After thoughtful consideration, Paramount Pictures and Skydance have decided to postpone the release dates for Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 in response too delays due to the ongoing pandemic. We look forward to providing moviegoers with an unparalleled theatrical experience.”

The seventh film in Tom Cruise’s franchise was pushed back to September 30, 2022 last September, four months past its original scheduled release on May 27, 2022. Before that, its original date for release was first set for July 2021.

The date shift comes as a small surprise, as the "Mission: Impossible 7" set was famed for being one of the first productions to safely resume filming as the virus continued to spread. Early last year, it was reported that Cruise, who is also a producer on the films, used robots to help ensure safety protocols were met on the movie sets.
