The sequel to "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" has been delayed.
The news came after Sony Pictures rearranged their upcoming releases calendar, changing the dates for several of their projects. Originally set to debut in October of this year, "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse" will now be released June 2, 2023.
Additionally, the film has changed its title, dropping "Part One." But not to worry, the already announced third movie in the "Spider-Verse" franchise is still on the way, with "Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Part II" hitting theaters March 29, 2024.

“Across the Spider-Verse” continues the story of Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) as he ventures between dimensions alongside Gwen Stacy (Hailee Steinfeld), encountering the many iterations of Spider-Man from other universes.
It's yet to be confirmed if any other actors from the 2018 film are returning to their roles, but the screenplays are penned by original powerhouses Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and David Callaham. Miller, who is also a producer on the films, tweeted in response to the news of the delay,
"More time to make it great."

It's unclear exactly why the "Spider-Verse" films were pushed back, but there's plenty of Spider content still on the way, as Sony gave an official release date to their "Madame Web" project, which will premiere July 7, 2023.
The origin film stars Dakota Johnson as the titular character, a clairvoyant bound to a web for life-support. Sydney Sweeney also stars as an undisclosed character, with "Jessica Jones" S.J. Clarkson directing.
While revealing the "shift in the multiverse," Sony also bumped up the release date to their musical film starring Shawn Mendes, "Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile" based on the children's books of the same name. Releasing Nov. 18, 2022, the family friendly flick now takes the Fall seat on the roster "Spider-Verse" previously held.
Sony also officially announced “The Equalizer 3,” another installment in Denzel Washington’s action franchise, which will hit theaters on Sept. 1, 2023.
