92 years ago, Mickey Mouse made his debut as a rabbit named Oswald. Today, Disney is everywhere from film and television to worldwide amusement parks. Many stars have made their debut thanks to this magical mouse.
From Emmy Award winning actress Zendaya to Grammy Award winning singer Justin Timberlake, Disney has produced some of the best artists in the world today.
Ryan Gosling
Ryan Gosling is a Golden Globe winning and Oscar nominated actor known for his roles as Noah in The Notebook (2004) and Sebastian in La La Land (2016).
Gosling gained attention from his time on The Mickey Mouse Club along with Christina Aguilera, Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, and more.
Christina Aguilera
Christina Aguilera is a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter known for her songs "Genie in a Bottle" (1999) and "Beautiful" (2002).
Like Gosling, Aguilera made her screen debut on the Disney show The Mickey Mouse Club and gained fame as the little girl with a big voice. Clips of her and her fellow cast mates Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears singing on the program can be found on YouTube.
Justin Timberlake
Justin Timberlake is a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter known for his songs "Cry Me a River" (2002) and "Suit & Tie" (2013). Timberlake is also an actor and a producer.
Timberlake was a part of The Mickey Mouse Club cast where he met future ex-fiancee Britney Spears. The two had a very public relationship and after their break, Timberlake wrote "Cry Me a River" dedicated to Spears.
Britney Spears
Britney Spears is a Grammy Award winning singer-songwriter widely known for her hits such as "...Baby One More Time" (1999) and "Toxic" (2004). Spears continues to write music as well as making appearances on various television shows.
Spears made her screen debut on The Mickey Mouse Club along with the other cast members described above.
Zac Efron
Zac Efron is a MTV Movie Award winning and SAGA nominated actor known for his roles as Phillip Carlyle in The Greatest Showman (2017) alongside Disney alum Zendaya and Mike O'Donnell in 17 Again (2009).
Efron began his known acting career through the High School Musical trilogy. Efron is still known for his portrayal of Troy Bolton and had girls falling in love with him all around the world.
Vanessa Hudgens
Vanessa Hudgens is a Teen Choice Award winning actress known for her roles as Stacy De Novo and Lady Margaret in The Princess Switch films (2018-present) and Lindy in Beastly (2011). Hudgens also starred in Broadway's Gigi.
Hudgens made her big break as Gabriella Montez in the High School Musical trilogy, alongside Zac Efron whom she had a very public relationship with until their messy split in 2010.
Cole Sprouse
Cole Sprouse is a People's Choice Awards winning actor known for his roles as Jughead Jones in Riverdale (2017-present) and Will in Five Feet Apart (2019) alongside Disney alum Moisés Arias.
Sprouse did not begin his career on Disney, contrary to others on this list. Sprouse is known for his roles as Ben Geller in Friends (1994-2004) and Julian "Frankenstein" McGrath in Big Daddy (1999), a role he split with his twin brother Dylan Sprouse.
The Sprouse twins then gained wide recognition for their Disney shows The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005-2008) and The Suite Life on Deck (2008-2011), paving the way for future roles.
Jonas Brothers
The Jonas Brothers are a Grammy nominated and Billboard Music Award winning boy band comprised of Joe Jonas, Nick Jonas, and Kevin Jonas that began in 2005. The documentary Chasing Happiness explains the group's highs and lows as three brothers finding out what it takes to be taken seriously in the industry.
Although they were gaining fame through the release of their hit "Year 3000" (2006), the brothers became a household name after their roles in Disney's Camp Rock (2008) and Camp Rock 2 (2010).
The band went on to have their own Disney sitcoms Jonas and Jonas L.A. (2009-2010) and appear as guests in many Disney shows before ending their ties with Disney, breaking up as a band in 2013, and getting back together in 2019.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus is an MTV VMA and Billboard Music Award winning singer-songwriter known for hits such as "Party in the U.S.A." (2009) and "Wrecking Ball" (2013).
Cyrus is the daughter of country star Billy Ray Cyrus and Tish Cyrus, however Miley broke out on her own through her role as Miley Stewart/ Hannah Montana on Disney's Hannah Montana (2006-2011). This role was also portrayed in the Disney film Hannah Montana: The Movie (2009). Miley acted along side her real-life dad Billy Ray Cyrus throughout all of the seasons and the film.
Demi Lovato
Demi Lovato is an MTV VMA Award winning and Grammy nominated singer known for her hits such as "Sorry Not Sorry" (2017) and "Heart Attack" (2013).
Lovato first appeared on Disney's As the Bell Rings (2007-2009) where she was noticed for her song "Shadow" sang alongside cast mate Tony Oller. Lovato went on to star in Disney's Camp Rock (2008) and Camp Rock 2 (2010) as Mitchie Torres alongside the Jonas Brothers.
After the films, Lovato also starred in the Disney sitcom Sonny With a Chance (2009-2011) as comedian Sonny Monroe.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez is an MTV VMA winning and Billboard Music Award nominated singer known for her songs "The Heart Wants What it Wants" (2014) and "Hands to Myself" (2015). Gomez is known for her roles as Faith in Spring Breakers (2012) alongside fellow Disney alum Vanessa Hudgens and the Hotel Transylvania films (2012-present) as Mavis.
Gomez began her career on shows such as Barney & Friends (1992-2010) where she acted and sang along the lovable purple dinosaur. However, Gomez gained fame through her role as Alex Russo on Disney's Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012) and Wizards of Waverly Place: The Movie (2009).
Zendaya
Zendaya is an Emmy award winning actress known for her roles as Rue Bennett in Euphoria (2019-present) and MJ in Marvel's recent Spider-Man films (2017-present).
Zendaya gained attention through her role as Rocky Blue on Shake It Up (2013-2010) and then went on to star in Disney channel's K.C. Undercover (2015-2018) as K.C. Cooper.
Thanks to Mickey Mouse and the Disney franchise we were introduced to these stars who have made a tremendous impact on the music, television, and film industry.
