Marvel Studios Reveals Future MCU Stars, Films, and Series

During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed what's next for the MCU, including multiple movies and television series.

In this inside story, we're taking a look at the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

During San Diego Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige revealed that six new movies and five original television series will be released by 2022!

First to hit theaters will be Black Widow, the character's first solo movie, in May 2020. Scarlett Johansson will star in the film alongside David Harbour, Florence Pugh, and Rachel Weisz, and she says the announcement is "a dream come true."

"I never could have imagined ten years ago that I'd be presenting footage at Hall H of this standalone movie," Scarlett says.

Another star-studded cast has been assembled for Eternals, which will premiere in November 2020. Feige says this movie is "something entirely new, entirely different for the MCU" and features "a group of immortals who have been on Earth for 35,000 years." The cast includes Angelina Jolie, Kumail Nanjiani, and Salma Hayek!

More characters will be introduced to the MCU in 2021 with the release of the martial arts film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

Plus, Feige announced new films featuring some of our favorite heroes! The first horror film in the MCU, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, will premiere in the summer of 2021. Then, in late 2021, Thor: Love and Thunder will show Jane Foster, played by Natalie Portman, wield the power of Thor.

Film reboots of Fantastic 4 and Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, were also confirmed.

Feige also announced exciting new series coming to Disney+! First, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will be released in fall 2020. WandaVision, with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, is coming in spring 2021 along with Loki, starring Tom Hiddleston

"The question I got asked more than any other question after Endgame was 'Where did Loki go? What happened to Loki?'" Feige says. "This series will tell you what happened to Loki right after that."

The MCU's first animated series will be What If...?, is coming summer 2021. Finally, the limited series Hawkeye, starring Jeremy Renner, will premiere in fall 2021.

With so many stars, films, and series coming to the MCU in the next two years, Marvel fans have a lot to look forward to!
