Netflix acquired the first three seasons of Cobra Kai after YouTube changed its business model from subscription based to an ad-supported platform. Season three will be filmed at a later date. Netflix and Hulu were original bidders of the show, but YouTube's Susanne Daniels saw the potential for Cobra Kai with their younger audience skew. Bright Wright, Netflix VP of content acquisition, said:
"The rivalry between Daniel and Johnny is one for the ages, and the show has a ton of heart and is a lot of fun. We can't wait to introduce a new generation of fans to Cobra Kai and are thrilled to be its new home around the world."
Watch season 1 and 2 of Cobra Kai on Netflix starting August 28th.
