There is much to look forward to in 2021 for Marvel fans. At The Walt Disney Company's 2020 Investor Day Presentation, lots of new projects from Marvel Studios have been announced. Here's what you need to know:
WandaVision
WandaVision is the first series from Marvel Studios and it is coming to Disney Plus on January 15th! Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, the show is based off of characters Wanda Maximoff and Vision who try to live a perfect life in the suburbs.
The Falcon & the Winter Soldier
A television series coming to Disney Plus on March 19th, The Falcon & the Winter Soldier takes place after Avengers: Endgame where Steve Rogers has put down his Captain America shield and lets Sam Wilson (Falcon) take his spot. The show was originally supposed to premiere months earlier as Disney Plus' first Marvel series, but we can now look forward to the six episodes in March, as well as a first look just released by Disney Plus.
Black Widow
Fans have been patiently waiting to see Scarlett Johansson finally star as Black Widow in the new Marvel film. The premiere date was pushed to November of 2020 and again to May of 2021. A decision has finally been made to release Black Widow in theaters on May 7th, 2021.
Loki
This super villain is getting his own miniseries. Tom Hiddleston is bringing back his role as Loki for six episodes set for release in May 2021 on Disney Plus.
Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings

Simu Liu stars as Shang-Chi in the upcoming film, titled Shang-Chi and The Legend of The Ten Rings. Production on the film has been fully wrapped and the release date is set for July 9th, 2021. The cast has been revealed and it includes Tony Leung as Wenwu, Awkwafina as Katy, and Michelle Yeoh as Jiang Nan. Also set to appear are Fala Chen, Meng'er Zhang, Florian Munteanu and Ronny Chieng.
What If...?
Among the project announcements is the first animated Marvel series, to be titled What If...?. The show is based off of the comic series of the same name. The premise of the series is to show alternate realities to the MCU without disrupting the already set plots fans know. A release date has yet to be set, but we can expect What If...? to be released in the summer of 2021.
Ms. Marvel
Expected to premiere in late 2021, Ms. Marvel shows Kamala Khan, a relatively new character, getting her own series. Starring Iman Vellani, Kamala is 16-year-old Pakistani-American living in Jersey City who loves writing and all things super heroes, especially Captain Marvel. While she seems like a regular teenage girl, the series follows Kamala and how she finds herself.
We're excited to watch these latest Marvel projects unfold in the coming years.
