Marvel's new show, Loki, has been massively successful with audiences. Now it's joining forces with another titan of television, Matt Groenig's The Simpsons, in a now available Disney+ short called The Good, The Bart, and The Loki.
The new short will have little relation to the ongoing Loki miniseries; instead, it follows Loki (voiced by his real-life actor, Tom Hiddleston) as he is banished from Asgard and forced to live in Springfield, the fictional town where the Simpson family lives. While there, he will face off against many fan-favorite characters from The Simpsons, though Disney has hinted that other Marvel characters may appear as well.
Loki focuses on Thor's brother, the zestful God of Mischief, as he finds himself displaced in time and teams up with Mobius (Owen Wilson) to uncover a conspiracy that spans all of existence. In contrast, The Simpsons is a 31-year-old sitcom about a middle-class family and the antics of their prankster son, Bart. Pairing the two shows may seem odd, but Disney has plenty of experience with this type of combination. Earlier this year, they mixed Star Wars with The Simpsons in another short, "The Force Awakens From Its Nap", which saw baby Maggie Simpson face off against Sith Lords and the Dark Side.
"The Good, The Bart, and The Loki" premieres on Disney+ Wednesday, July 7.
