Ben Platt as Evan Hansen

In an interview with Deadline, Ben Platt officially confirmed he would return to the role that made him a megastar. Platt won the Tony Award for Best Actor in 2017 and received critical and audience praise for the role. Platt has also starred in Pitch Perfect 1 & 2 (Movie) as Benji, Book Of Mormon as Elder Cunningham, and Netflix's The Politician in the titular role of Payton Hobart. Platt also released an album, 'Sing To Me Instead'. While speaking on the role, Platt stated:

"If COVID allows it, it's on the docket for everyone and something that I think everyone is really looking to make. We think this is obviously a story that would be really effective to tell on film. But it's a matter of can we make it happen in time for me to be conceivably young . If the guidelines prove that it's possible over the next few months, I think it's definitely a possibility".

Kaitlyn Dever as Zoe Murphy

Colton Ryan as Connor Murphy

Colton Ryan will play Connor Murphy. The role was originated by West Side Story (2020)'s Mike Faist. Colton is the 2nd cast member from the musical to return, as he was the understudy for Evan Hansen, Connor Murphy, and Jared Kleinman in the original Broadway cast. Ryan's resume also includes a starring role in Bob Dylan's Girl From North Country, which is currently closed due to the Broadway shutdown.
