This 2021 rendition of West Side Story follows the original tale of a forbidden love between two teenagers bound to their respective gangs. Combining adaptations of the original Broadway show's plot, screenwriting, music, and choreography, Spielberg is set to deliver one of the most entertaining musicals to hit theaters this year.

Spielberg's West Side Story is uniting talent from both Hollywood and Broadway in order to retell the classic tale of 1957 New York City's Romeo and Juliet. Still sticking to the original film's characters, the two main stars of the film, Tony and Maria, are played by Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler.

Even more exciting, Ariana DeBose is starring as Anita, David Alvarez as Bernardo, and Mike Faist as Riff. Spielberg also joined forces with Rita Moreno, who is one of only three artists to have been awarded with Academy, Emmy, Grammy, Tony, and Peabody Awards. Moreno took upon dual roles for the film, acting as Valentina while also serving as the film's executive producer.

Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award winning executive producer, Tony Kushner also produced the screenplay for West Side Story, working alongside choreographer Justin Peck to deliver artistry and creativity to the screen.
