It's been three long years, but the wait is finally over!
Throughout the year, promotional pictures and trailers were released to tease the comeback of the beloved Netflix show "Stranger Things." Now, fans are only days away from the highly anticipated return of the Sci-fi series, which is set to premiere this Friday, May 27.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the new season takes place six months after the Battle of Starcourt and will follow the group of teens, who are now separated, on their journey of dealing with the aftermath, as well as "navigating the complexities of high school".
It's also reported that:
"In this most vulnerable time, a new and horrifying supernatural threat surfaces, presenting a gruesome mystery that, if solved, might finally put an end to the horrors of the Upside Down.”
With so many questions to answer, the new season will come in 2 parts. Volume one will premiere this Friday with episodes one through seven. The remaining two episodes will debut July 1. It has been announced that this season is the penultimate season of the show, leaving only one left before it wraps up.
This season is also amongst the longest of the show's history in terms of episode run times. The creators of the series, Matt and Ross Duffer told Collider that episodes seven and nine would be like "feature length films."
During Deadline's Contender's Television Panel, the Duffer Brothers said:
“We kind of jokingly call it our Game of Thrones season because it’s so spread out, so I think that’s what’s unique or most unique about the season."
