It's an exciting announcement for fans of Showtime's The Chi as the series has been renewed for a fourth season. News broke on social media with a new teaser video being released.
The show took to social media by posting a beautiful floral video revealing the news posting:
"#ChiFam, we got some news: #TheChi will return for Season 4 on #Showtime!"
It comes to light as the series aired its season three finale on August 23. The series was created and executive produced by Lena Waithe and produced by Academy Award, Emmy and Golden Globe winner Common, it tells a coming of age story set in the South Side of Chicago.
The show will return Justin Hillian as showrunner and executive producer along with stars Ntare Guma, Mbaho Mwine, Jacob Latimore, Alex Hibbert, Yolonda Ross, Shamon Brown Jr., Michael V. Epps, and Birgundi Baker. Showtime Networks President of Entertainment Gary Levine shared:
"Each season, THE CHI's authentic storytelling resonates more deeply with its devoted and growing audiences. "Lena Waithe together with Justin Hillian explore the joys and the heartbreak of life on the South Side in a way that is unique on television, and we relish the prospect of continuing that exploration with them."
In the same statement, Waithe commented how the show has taken her on an incredible journey:
"One of learning, healing, and growth. I didn't know how this season would be received, but the level of engagement and enthusiasm from the fans has been fantastic. I still can't believe our numbers are up by double digits! THE CHI is a team effort, and I'm grateful to continue this journey with such an amazing group of people."
