Michael C. Hall will return to shake things up in the serial-killing drama Dexter. After eight years since the last episode aired, the thriller will return to television with ten new episodes.
Showtime shared the exciting news with an ominous video that gives viewers at home the tense feeling back in 2006 when the show first aired.
The show follows Dexter Morgan, a blood splatter expert who not only solves murder mysteries, but commits them too. He is a serial killer who targets guilty people and feels an intense connection to death after losing his mother at three years old.
Hall, who portrays the title character of the limited series, will once again team up with showrunner Clyde Phillips. The cast will go into production early next year to begin filming which is slated to premiere in fall of 2021.
Gary Levine, Co-President of Entertainment at Showtime, said that the show would only continue the narrative of Hall's "unique" character if they could find a fresh and "worthy" take.
"We would only revisit this unique character if we could find a creative take that was truly worthy of the brilliant, original series. Well, I am happy to report that Clyde Phillips and Michael C. Hall have found it, and we can't wait to shoot it and show it to the world."
