People's Choice Awards: Winners, Performances, And Stand Out Moments

People's Choice Award Recap

Find out who took home awards last night at the PCA's...

Last night, The People's Choice Awards aired on E! in an all new, digital format! The awards show, which is unique for having all winners chosen by a fan vote, had to reimagine the staging of the show in order to follow pandemic protocols.

Demi Lovato served looks while also serving as host for the night! One of the show's highlights was Lovato's grand entrance to the stage which was spaced out with a digital audience to accommodate for social distancing.

Stars who were able to attend and announce at the event were seated with masks until it was their turn to walk the runway to the empty stage.

Watch Demi Lovato make her entrance:

Demi Lovato kicked off the show with a message to this year's unique audience:

"This is literally my favorite show of the year, and not just because I've taken home a few of these trophies myself. But, this is the only awards show decided entirely by the fans. So every winner was chosen by you. Oh and, um, don't worry. We made sure to count everyone in Pennsylvania's vote first."

She went on to joke about her experience getting engaged and using Postmates in quarantine before getting serious:

"Tonight, our presenters and winners will be here live on stage. I'm so excited to be here tonight too. In all seriousness, during all of these challenging times we found ways to stay connected and get each other through it. And that's what tonight is all about. To celebrate the people, the music, the shows, and the films that helped us get through 2020. And tonight, it's all about the people!"

Hosting the show was an exciting gig for Lovato who has been avoiding the tabloids following the end of the engagement to her ex fiancé. People watching the show at home noticed the singer was GLOWING.

As explained by the hostess, all the winners for the night were chosen by the people.

Here's some of the top award winners:

BTS took home three awards, making them the most awarded of the night:

The K-pop group took home the awards for The Album of 2020, The Song of 2020, and The Group of 2020. It's no wonder the group snagged the most wins for the night. They later celebrated online with their over thirty million twitter followers.

Right behind them, Ariana Grande won two awards:

The pop icon took home awards for The Social Celebrity of 2020 and The Female Artist of 2020. This is an exciting time for the singer who just released her sixth studio album, 'Positions'.

Youtuber, Emma Chamberlain was the other star to receive two awards:

The internet personality is known for her witty commentary and relatable video blogs on Youtube as well as her podcast "Anything Goes with Emma Chamberlain." She grabbed trophies for The Social Star of 2020 and The Pop Podcast of 2020.

There were a few other individual awards that remain standouts for the night!

Jennifer Lopez was honored with a special award:

It was announced in early October that Jennifer Lopez would receive the special trophy as the "People's Icon of 2020" award recipient. The award itself is a special one that is decided by the managing team at E! They decided to honor Lopez for continuing an unmatched global appeal over two decades.

Jennifer Lopez strutted the stage and accepted the award wearing Christian Siriano.

Tyler Perry also took home a special award:

The 51 year-old actor accepted The People's Champion Award for his work impacting communities across the globe. In his acceptance speech, Perry did not shy away from tough talking points.

"If you just keep digging, my god if you could just hear me right now. Just keep digging. You may be four inches away from every gift and every blessing that you've ever wanted in your life. Had I given up when I was homeless, when I was sleeping in my car, when I was hungry. Had I given up, these people that you see on this screen right now would not be a part of my dream. They are people that are tied into your dream and your destiny. You are worthy of getting to your goal. Keep digging."

Last year, the PCA's honored P!nk with the award.

Last special honor, Tracee Ellis Ross:

Another special award that was announced long before the PCA's, Tracee Ellis Ross won The Fashion Icon Award. For over 20 years, the actress, CEO, and role model has expressed herself through clothing with bright colors and gasp-worthy silhouettes.

There were a few other award honorees that stood out last night!

Joey King took the opportunity to announce The Kissing Booth 3!

After winning The Comedy Movie Star of 2020, actress Joey King announced The Kissing Booth 3 will be released summer 2021. The Netflix film series which she had been nominated for has already debuted two movies to the streaming service.

Tiffany Haddish graced the stage with some much needed energy:

While accepting her award for The Female Movie Star of 2020, fans got a much needed supply of enthusiasm.

"I like me, and that's what I'm rolling with. If you like me, fantastic."

She went on to thank those fans who were able to find laughter and joy in her work:

"I want to give a shoutout to anyone who was going through depression or stress this year that was feeling like... "Dang! I am sad, nothing is funny." And then you turn on something with Tiffany Haddish and then, you like- "Yes I feel better"... yes b**** that was for you."

Gigi Goode took home a win for the LGBTQ+ community:

As a contestant and runner-up on season 12 of Ru Paul's Drag Race, Gigi Goode rose to fame during the start of the pandemic. Since then, she has continued her creative expression and adapted to keep fans entertained while receiving The Competition Contestant of 2020 Award.
