Set to be held virtually on Univision this Thursday, November 19th, fans can also expect singer Ricky Martin to take the stage.

'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom' To Premiere on Netflix

With the Academy Awards set to take place in April 2021, it is now what we like to call Oscar campaigning season. Before the tragic passing of actor Chadwick Boseman in August of this year, Boseman starred in Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, a period piece set in Chicago in 1927. The film, which is based on the play by August Wilson, follows a singer known as "Mother of the Blues" and her horn player along with the tensions that rise with their white manager.

Ma Rainey's Black Bottom is the last role Boseman has played and is set to premiere on Netflix on December 18th. The streaming service announced that it will try to secure a nomination for best actor for Boseman at the 93rd Academy Awards.
