Playwright and filmmaker Marco Calvani is known for his incredibly moving work like "Strong Hands" and "The View from Up Here." The plays and films often capture the raw essence of immigrant and LGBTQ stories.
Marco sitting down with Advocate Channel exclusively to share his mission:
"It's the role of the artist to try to understand reality, represent it, and give the audience or the reader a chance or experience to possibly make a change in their life."
Marco also shared some advice for fellow LGBTQ and immigrant artists:
"Be true to your own voice, really. Be true, to be authentic, believe that what we do is bigger than anything else, anything that can scare you in the moment."
