"Two Grooms on a Cake" tells the story of the first legal gay marriage.

GLAAD, the world's largest LGBTQ media advocacy organization, announced yesterday the title of the newest book in their partnership series with Little Bee Books.

"Two Grooms on a Cake" by Rob Sanders and illustrated by Robbie Cathro, is the story of Jack Baker and Michael McConnell, the first gay couple to be married legally in the United States, on September 3, 1971.

The book tells the story of their struggle to secure a marriage license in the state of Minnesota and their following appeals to the Supreme Court. The wonderful narrative entails the love story of two trailblazers for equality through the imagery of their wedding cake.

"Two Grooms on a Cake" is part of a collaboration between GLAAD and Little Bee Books to further represent the LGBTQ community in classrooms and at home.

"It's important that we both document LGBTQ history, and create opportunities to celebrate LGBTQ couples with our families and children, and with Two Grooms, Rob Sander's accomplishes both." said Rich Rich Ferraro, GLAAD's Chief Communications Officer.

"Jack and Michael's story is a testament to how far we've come in the fight for marriage equality in the 50 years since they were first married. This picture book is a celebration of their love and the love of all LGBTQ couples who have sought the right to have their marriages accepted and recognized," said Charlie Ilgunas, the editor for "Two Grooms" at Little Bee Books.

Among other titles within the initiative are "Prince & Knight", "Jack (Not Jackie)", "Maiden & Princess", and the "People of Pride" series.
