Amber Heard recently appeared on “Today," in her first post-verdict interview, to discuss the outcome of her defamation trial with her ex-husband Johnny Depp.
Heard told show host Savannah Guthrie,
"To my dying day, I will stand by every word of my testimony,"
In the first part of the interview, which aired on Tuesday's episode of "Today," the 36-year-old actress stood by her testimony and spoke about the emotional toll of the trial.
"Every single day, I passed three, four, sometimes six city blocks lined with people holding signs saying burn the witch, death to Amber. After three and a half weeks, I took the stand and saw just a courtroom packed of Captain Jack Sparrow fans who were vocal, energized."
She later added,
"This is the most humiliating and horrible thing I've ever been through I have never felt more removed from my own humanity. I felt less than human."
On June 1, a Virginia jury awarded Depp $15 million in his suit against Heard, ruling in his favor on all three claims that he was defamed in Heards Washington Post op-ed where she called herself a domestic abuse survivor.
In the interview with Guthrie, Heard said that she thinks a vast majority of the trial was played out on social media.
"I think that this trial is an example of that gone haywire, gone amok and the jury is not immune to that... I think even the most well-intentioned juror… it would have been impossible to avoid this."
More of Heard's interview with Guthrie will air on Wednesday on "Today," as well as in a special "Dateline" episode Friday on NBC.
