The defamation trial between Amber Heard and her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, came to a close Wednesday with a verdict that has over $10 million due to Depp.
The Depp v. Heard trial lasted nearly six weeks and the jury concluded with both parties' guilt, however while Amber Heard is owed $2 million of her original ask of $100 million, Johnny Depp was granted $15 million from the jurors.
Thursday, on "The Today Show," Heard's attorney, Elaine Bredehoft, told host Savannah Guthrie that her client would not be able to pay the money.
"Oh no, absolutely not," she shared.
More, Bredehoft said that Heard plans to appeal the verdict and the "horrible message" it sends.
"Unless you pull out your phone and you video your spouse or your significant other beating you, effectively, you won't be believed," Bredehoft said to Guthrie.
Heard, after winning the trial in the UK and seemingly losing in the US, would agree. She believes this is a set back for women's rights.
On the other hand, Depp reveals he feels free.
"[The] jury gave me my life back," Depp told USA TODAY.
This feeling may not last, as the ACLU — American Civil Liberties Union — is gearing up to sue Depp for an additional $86,000 for the time dedicated to testimonies and documents, so more is definitely to come from the drama between Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.
