According to a Warner Bros. executive, Amber Heard was almost dropped from “Aquaman 2,” due to a lack of chemistry with her co-star Jason Momoa.
In a pre-taped deposition played at Johnny Depp’s defamation trial, Walter Hamada, president of DC-based film production, shared that the two “didn’t really have a lot of chemistry together.”
"I think editorially they were able to make that relationship work in the first movie, but there was concern that it took a lot of effort to get there," Hamada shared.
Though there was some discussion around replacing Heard, Hamada revealed that the studio ultimately moved forward with the actress.
Hamada was called to testify in order to undermine Heard's claim that her role in the film was reduced after Depp allegedly conspired with his lawyer to defame her.
Depp's lawyer, Ben Chew, asked Hamada,
"Was her role [in 'Aquaman 2'] ever reduced for any reason?"
Hamada replied, "No."
