The new trailer shows Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) teaming up to save the karate team. The previous enemies now work together to defeat John Kreese (Martin Kove), the sole sensei of Johnny's new Cobra Kai karate dojo. These actors star in the series more than 30 years after their original Karate Kid debut, with many fans excited about Daniel and Johnny finally making amends and targeting a larger evil.

The trailer also features the recovery of Miguel (Xolo Maridueña) who was last seen in a coma at the end of season two. Johnny serves as his motivator and helper in becoming more mobile in hopes of returning to an able-bodied state.

More Karate Kid cameos will also return to the series with Chozen Toguchi, the antagonist from Karate Kid: Part 2, and Daniel's love interest Kumiko (Tamlyn Tomita).

Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg serve as the writers and executive producers on the series. Protagonists Macchio and Zabka are also co-executive producers of the series.

Ralph Macchio took to Twitter posting the trailer, writing:

"HERE IT IS!! 💥 New year, new season, highest stakes ever. Cobra Kai is coming this January!! 🥋 #TeamMiyagiDo or #TeamCobraKai"

William Zabka wrote to his social:

"Cobra Kai S3 is coming this January. Who's side will you be on #TeamCobraKai or #TeamMiyagiDo?@cobrakaiseries —- see u at the @netflix dojo! 👊🏻"

After the first two seasons of Cobra Kai premiered on YouTube Premium, the show moved its streaming platform. The upcoming third season can be seen on Netflix. The show already announced its season four renewal back in October. Fans can begin watching the third season of the action drama fiction on January 8th, 2021.
