'Da 5 Bloods' Nominations 🎬

Joining the snub club is Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods.

The film is an American war drama that follows a group of Vietnam War veterans who return to the country in search of buried treasure. While the film also did not receive any Golden Globe nominations, it did receive multiple nominations from the NAACP Image Awards, including Outstanding Motion Picture.

Delroy Lindo, who was also nominated for the NAACP's Outstanding Actor award, spoke with us about the film's importance.

"This is the first film that tells its story through the prism of black vets and their experiences, so I think this film is critically important from that standpoint and I also feel that frankly it's a historical corrective," Lindo said.

The NAACP Image Awards air March 27th on BET and CBS.

'Judas and the Black Messiah' Nominations 🎞

The new film Judas and the Black Messiah, starring Daniel Kaluuya and Lakeith Stanfield, picked up multiple nominations. The movie tells the story of the assassination of Black Panther leader, Fred Hampton.

Co-star Algee Smith shared his insight on the film's important message:

"[Hampton] was trying to unify all people, it wasn't just black people... He formed a rainbow coalition, which means people of all different nationalities, all different races, coming together for one mission and one goal. I want people to just take away from that, that there's still that unity, there's power where there's people," Smith said.
