After an already successful year with her breakouts roles in "Euphoria" and "the White Lotus," Sydney Sweeney is ready to join the Sony Cinematic Universe.

Following Marvel's smash hit "Spider-man: No Way Home," fans have been wondering what's next for everyone's favorite web-slinger. In February, Sony announced a new project that will feature comic character, Madame Web, played by none other than "The Social Network" and "Fifty Shades of Grey" star Dakota Johnson.

In the comics, Madame Web is usually depicted as an elderly woman attached to a web-shaped life support system. She has a condition known as myasthenia gravis, which confines her to her webs. Because of this, she has never actively fought any villains, but has mentored Peter Parker and the Spider Women.

With Johnson in the starring role, it's unclear which part Sweeney will be playing. Because of the complicated nature of Madame Web's abilities, sources claim that the nature of her character and the project are subject to change.

It's also still unclear which (if any) beloved Spider-Man will appear, but fans speculate that due to the nature of Madame Web's clairvoyant abilities, she could theoretically be the Doctor Strange of Sony's universe.

The screenplay was written by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless, and will be directed by S.J. Clarkson. No start or release date has been given yet. As Johnson goes forward with the project, she becomes the first woman superhero to appear in Sony's Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Could Sweeney be the second? Possibly Spider-Gwen? For now, we have nothing but speculation. Still, what would have been an otherwise unnoteworthy character is now taking the public by storm.
