Pancreatic cancer has claimed many lives including Alex Trebek, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, John Lewis and Patrick Swayze. However, scientists may be now close to an important breakthrough!
President and CEO of Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, Julie Fleshman, talked about the important strides scientists are making to help find a cure for pancreatic cancer.
"It was so sad that we lost so many amazing people last year to pancreatic cancer, but those stories inspire us to say this is urgent and the need is now."
The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network is now developing a new early detection test.
"It's a 25 million dollar study with the goal to discover an early detection test for pancreatic cancer and change practice guidelines. If patients can be diagnosed at an earlier stage, their chance for long-term survival is much better."
The fight against pancreatic cancer proceeds, but at least we can take a moment to celebrate this remarkable breakthrough!
