The Plot

The film is an adaption of the 2021 novel of the same name written by Bethan Roberts. Set in the 50's, My Policeman tells the story of married couple Marion (Emma Corrin) and Tom Burgess (Harry Styles) and their love story. Marion is a school teacher and Tom is a police officer. Tom then meets Patrick Hazelwood (David Dawson) who is a museum curator. Tom and Patrick fall in love and begin in a long affair, while Tom still marries Marion due to illegal homosexuality at the time. While jealously eventually breaks Patrick and Tom apart, the movie will depict the characters 40 years in the future where Tom and Patrick encounter each other once again.

Production

The production has started filming this spring in England. The film is being directed by Michael Grandage and produced by Greg Berlanti.

Cast

While Styles is known for his music career, this isn't his first time on a big movie set. He first appeared on the big screen in Christopher Nolan's 2017 Dunkirk. In addition to My Policeman, Styles has another upcoming movie Don't Worry, Darling alongside Florence Pugh and Chris Pine.

Emma Corrin is best known for portraying Princess Diana in Netflix's period drama The Crown. The 25-year-old won a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Television Series Drama for her performance.

David Dawson is best known for his work on television in shows like The Road to Coronation Street , Luther, and Joseph Merrick ("The Elephant Man") in Year of the Rabbit.

Where and When To Watch

While there is not an official release date for the movie yet, the production is well underway. Because Amazon Studios bought the rights to the movie, you can expect the movie to possibly be available for streaming via Amazon as well as in theaters.
