NBC's soap opera Days of Our Lives returned to filming on September 1st after a delay in production due to the pandemic. Now, the show will take an unexpected shutdown after a member on the production team tests positive for COVID-19 which came to light during the show's testing protocol.

Days was the last of the four daytime soaps to resume production after COVID-19. CBS' Young and the Restlessand The Bold and the Beautiful and ABC's General Hospital have been filming their next seasons. The Bold and the Beautiful had a brief pause in production attributed to testing. Days had enough episodes previously filmed to last until October.

The soap is the latest show to halt production due to a staff member testing positive for COVID-19. CW's All American, NBC's Chicago Med, ABC's For Life, and CBS' Young Sheldon have all experienced pauses in production due to cast and crew testing positive for COVID-19.

Corday Productions emailed the cast and crew of the daytime drama with news that taping is slated to resume on October 26th. The 56th season's airdate will remain the same. The person who tested positive is in isolation and the people they were in close contact with have entered a 14-day quarantine process.
