The arrival of February means the arrival of Black History Month, the time of the year when we celebrate all the contributions and perseverance of African Americans in the United States. To kick off this month, let's take a look at some of the best black stories Hollywood has to offer.


Critics Choice

The third annual Critics Choice Association Celebration of Black Cinema will take place on February 2nd in a virtual ceremony, honoring the best of African American filmmakers.

'Ma Rainey's Black Bottom'

The late Chadwick Boseman will be honored at the celebration, and will receive the Performance of the Year Award for Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, his last ever performance.

'Malcolm and Marie'

The Next Gen Award will go to Zendaya and John David Washington for the film Malcolm and Marie, a look at the complicated relationship of a screenwriter and his girlfriend.

Other Honors

John Legend, Tessa Thompson, the cast of One Night in Miami, and Delroy Lindo for his film Da 5 Bloods.
