ABC is a major network for game shows and contests, so it's no surprise that they are releasing Celebrity Wheel of Fortune. Every episode will have a $1 million winning going towards the charity of a celebrity's choice.
'Wheel of Fortune'
Wheel of Fortune has been around since 1975 and doesn't look like it will be ending anytime soon. The show has been renewed through 2023 and its spin-off Celebrity Wheel of Fortune has been announced as a straight-to-series order.
'Celebrity Wheel of Fortune' Spin-Off
Celebrity Wheel of Fortune will be hosted by Pat Sajak and Vanna White and produced by Sony Pictures Television. Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune's Mike Richards will be the executive producer of the new syndicated series.
ABC and Its History of Game Shows
The new series is coming at a time where game shows are being desired from the production side. Game shows are easier to film during the Covid-19 pandemic, as hosts and contestants are able to be socially distanced with no hassle.
ABC currently airs Who Wants to Be a Millionaire hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, Celebrity Family Feud hosted by Steve Harvey, and Dancing With the Stars hosted by Tyra Banks, so it's no surprise that the network jumped at the opportunity premiere this new series.
There is no premiere date or contestant list as of now.
