Felicity Huffman will be returning to TV to star in a new baseball comedy series at ABC.

The series is inspired by a true story of Susan Savage, owner of the Minor League Baseball team the Sacramento River Cats. According to Deadline the series is set to be:

A funny, surprising and occasionally heartbreaking half-hour about love, loss, family and Triple-A baseball. After the sudden death of her husband, Huffman's character inherits his baseball team.

The half hour comedy series is written by Becky Hartman Edwards and will also star Zack Gottsagen as her son who is devoted to baseball with Down syndrome. This isn't the first series ABC and Huffman worked on together. Huffman previously starred in the Aaron Sorkin comedy series Sport Night as Dana Whitaker, the dramedy Desperate Housewives as Lynette Scavo, and the anthology series American Crime. All three roles earned Huffman award nominations, but she scored winning an Emmy for Desperate Housewives.

The series will be the first project Huffman will be taking on since the 2019 college admission scandal. Huffman was arrested in March 2019 and pled guilty to fraud more than a year ago serving 14 days in jail, one year of supervised release, fined $30,000 and must complete 250 hours of community service. Before heading off to prison Huffman stared in the film Tammy's Always Dying directed by Amy Jo Johnson. She also starred in the Netflix comedy film Otherwood alongside Angela Bassett and Patricia Arquette as well as Ava DuVernay's miniseries When They See Us.
