Punxsutawney Phil has predicted six more weeks of winter on this Groundhog Day and while the weather isn't being too kind to us, we can sit down and watch shows from 'Friends' to 'Glee' where the weather is also beating up our favorite characters.

These episodes are not so much a distraction from the current weather conditions, but rather a means of comfort knowing that these characters are plowing through the same as us and end up victorious (kind of).

Superstore: "Blizzard"

Season 4 Episode 12 of NBC's Superstore (2015-) presents a massive snowstorm to St. Louis, home of the workers of Cloud 9.

With no escape, Amy (America Ferrera), Jonah (Ben Feldman), Dina (Lauren Ash), the other workers, and customers must shelter together leaving room for obvious tension and eventual fighting.

30 Rock: "Winter Madness"

Season 4 Episode 11 of 30 Rock (2006-2013) shows the gloom of January taking a toll on the work environment of TGS and Liz (Tina Fey) determined to boost morale.

She decides to take the crew on the road with her boss Jack (Alec Baldwin) eventually taking over and all of her co-workers blaming Liz for their issues.

How I Met Your Mother: "Three Days of Snow"

How I Met Your Mother (2005-2014) Season 4 Episode 13 features Barney (Neil Patrick Harris) and Ted (Josh Radnor) taking blizzard matters into their own hands and offering to keep MacLaren's open during a blizzard, so that they can meet up with college girls.

Meanwhile, wholesome Lily (Alyson Hannigan) and Marshall (Jason Segel) are trying to continue their airport reunion tradition of Lily bringing back a six-pack of beer with her every time she returns from a trip.

Glee: "Girls (And Boys) On Film"

Glee (2009-2015) "Girls (And Boys) On Film" is a season four episode based around a snow storm in New York and a glee club assignment at William McKinley High School.

Rachel (Lea Michele), Santana (Naya Rivera), Kurt (Chris Colfer), and Kurt's fling Adam (Oliver Kieran-Jones) are stuck in their loft as New York faces a snow storm. The four watch Moulin Rouge! (2001) and Kurt reminisces on his relationship with Blaine (Darren Criss).

Back in Ohio, the glee club is performing mash-ups of classic film hits. Songs featured in this episode are:

  • "You're All the World to Me" from Royal Wedding (1951)
  • "Shout" from Animal House (1978)
  • "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge!
  • "Old Time Rock & Roll" from Risky Business (1983) mashed up with "Danger Zone" from Top Gun (1986)
  • "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953) mashed up with "Material Girl" from Moulin Rouge!
  • "In Your Eyes" from Say Anything... (1989)
  • "Unchained Melody" from Ghost (1990)
  • "Footloose" from Footloose (1984)

Modern Family: "White Christmas"

Episode 9 of Modern Family's (2009-2020) seventh season showcases the family on a cabin trip planned by Gloria (Sofia Vergara) in an attempt to have the Christmas she never could back in Columbia.

However, the weather and the love triangle of Beth (Laura Ashley Samuels), Andy (Adam DeVine), and Haley (Sarah Hyland) blows up in everyone's faces and the family realizes that they will just never have a normal holiday.

Friends: "The One With Phoebe's Wedding"

Last, but certainly not least is the iconic episode of Friends (1994-2004) where Phoebe (Lisa Kudrow) gets married to Mike (Paul Rudd) in Season 10 Episode 14 "The One With Phoebe Wedding."

Of course Phoebe's special day is faced with one of the biggest storms to hit New York. Each of the friends (Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc) find their role in the event and help make this day worth it, even if it is freezing cold.

The weather isn't being too kind this week, so make sure to bundle up, binge these six episodes, and keep yourself from going as crazy as these characters,
