The star-bound captain that inspired generations of space and sci-fi enthusiasts took his turn to walk amongst the stars, at least for a short time.
William Shatner, who is 90 years old, joined Jeff Bezos' Blue Origin space flight to the last frontier on Wednesday morning. The Star Trek icon became the oldest person to ever enter space flight.

Alongside Glen de Vries, Chris Boshuizen, and Audrey Powers, William Shatner boarded the New Shepard spacecraft and lifted off from Texas at 9:50am CT.
Shatner and the rest of the Astronauts were in space for a total of ten minutes, and the spacecraft slowly descended to earth. However, Shatner couldn't pass up the opportunity to send out a tweet from the last frontier.
I do not know what I may appear to the world, but to myself I seem to have been only like a boy playing on the seashore, diverting myself in now & then finding a smoother pebble or a prettier shell than ordinary, whilst the great ocean of truth lay all undiscovered before me.pic.twitter.com/ZY2Ka8ij7z— William Shatner (@William Shatner) 1634136840
Shatner, a staunch pro-science activist, was visibly emotional after landing back on earth. Amazon and Blue Origins Founder Jeff Bezos greeted the team at the landing sight with champagne in hand.

Of his experience, Shatner shared with members of the media just how thrilling the experience was. He shares:
"I hope I never recover from this. I hope that I can maintain what I feel now. I don't want to lose it."
Congrats to Captain Kirk and the rest of the astronauts on a successful trip!
