On Tuesday, Netflix released a trailer for The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window. The film follows a woman named Anna, played by Kristen Bell, that is convinced she's witnessed a murder but no one believes her. In the opening scene, it shows Anna at some type of AA meeting, admitting she drinks and takes pills. She then blurts out that she witnessed a murder. It quickly becomes clear that this movie will be a dark comedy similar to other psychological thrillers like Gone Girl. There is a mixture of thrilling content and comedy, highlighting the weird position that Anna finds herself in.
Anna is seen sticking to her beliefs that she actually saw a murder but after no one believes her, she begins to have doubts. After speaking to neighbors, calling 911 and sharing her concerns about what she saw happen, Anna is told by many people that she is "crazy."
In the trailer, her friend Carol says,
"You know, I used to feel bad for you, but I do not feel bad for you anymore, and I will not pray for you anymore."
Anna then decides to take matters into her own hands. She begins detective work on the case to try and find out more details. Towards the end of the trailer, the tone gets more serious. Anna falls down in the middle of the street while holding a casserole, gets interrogated at the police station and is seen crawling in the rain.
The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window premieres on Jan.28.
