Michael Imperioli Talks 'The Sopranos' Prequel, Grace Van Patten Talks 'Mayday' & More | CPTV
As we head into the new month, our Sonia Isabelle is here to share the latest entertainment news on this week's movie and TV releases.

First, get ready to head back to Newark, New Jersey for the highly anticipated prequel film to The Sopranos.

"I think this is a smart way to revisit the material and revisit the world in a very new way with different actors. So, I have really high hopes for it."

That was Christopher Moltisanti himself, Michael Imperioli, on The Many Saints of Newark. Imperioli, who serves as the film's narrator, went on to say that the film focuses on his character's father, Dickie Moltisanti. In Italian, molti santi translates to many saints, hence the title of the prequel film.

Although The Sopranos is infamous for its controversial ending, it is still widely regarded as the greatest television series of all time. The Many Saints of Newark is in theaters and available to stream on HBO Max now.

In other movie news, Grace Van Patten stars in Mayday. The action film follows Van Patten's character who finds herself in another world where she meets a killer group of women.

Believe it or not, Van Patten is a Sopranos alum herself. She appeared as Eugene Pontecorvo's daughter, Ally, in the season six premiere "Member's Only" back in 2006.

Now, the 24 year old actress is in a starring role. She had this to say about Mayday:

"Ultimately, it is a story about this young woman finding her inner strength and power. A vital part of that journey is her connection with these women that she meets in this fantasy world."

Her co-stars include Juliette Lewis, Mia Goth, Havana Rose Liu, and Soko. Van Patten continued:

"Ana goes on this journey and she finds herself and she finds her feet. She really comes out the other side of whatever rut she was in. So, it's very hopeful"

Mayday is in theaters now.

Live from New York it's Saturday night! That's right, Saturday Night Live is back for Season 47 starting this Saturday.
