"Secret Headquarters," produced by Paramount Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer Films, is a family action-comedy that was first slated for Aug. 5 theatrical release and is now headed straight to streaming on Paramount+.
The Owen Wilson-led film will now be exclusively released on Paramount+ on Aug. 5, 2022. The decision to make the switch happened as Paramount tries to make its services more competitive, in hopes of rivaling other services like Netflix and HBO Max
"We have seen tremendous success with our high-quality kids and family content, and are excited to add this special superhero movie to our growing slate of Paramount+ original films," Tanya Giles, chief programming officer for Paramount streaming, said in a statement.
"Secret Headquarters" follows the story of Charlie Kincaid, who discovers a superhero's secret headquarters hidden beneath his house. He shares the discovery with his best friend, and together, they defend the headquarters when villains come a-knocking.
The writing and directing team of Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman, who co-wrote and directed movies like "Project Power" and "Nerve," teamed up with Josh Koenigsberg and Christopher Yost to write the screenplay for the film.
Wilson will be co-starring in the movie with Walker Scobell, who just made his acting debut in the Netflix movie "The Adam Project." Other cast members include Jesse Williams, Keith L. Williams, Momona Tamada, Abby James Witherspoon and Michael Peña.
