Carole King will be Inducted by Taylor Swift and Jennifer Hudson to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Carole King

Carole King is ready to receive a big honor at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. The iconic singer will be inducted by none other than pop star Taylor Swift and Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson.

Carole King is a music legend. The 79-year-old singer is best known for iconic hits such as "It's Too Late" and "You've Got A Friend." Her music has defined entire generations. And after all this time, the songwriter is still getting a prestigious recognition for impacting the music industry with her talent.

Taylor Swift will do the honors, alongside Jennifer Hudson, and present King at the 36th annual ceremony. Furthermore, the two are set to perform during King's induction....

.... But this is not the first time that Swift and Hudson are on King's side for important occasions.

This summer, King and Hudson both shared the cover of Variety, where the two opened up about the thrilling experience of writing an original song for Aretha Franklin's biopic Respect, in which Hudson starred as the protagonist.

During the interview, King confessed that she felt an enormous amount of pressure that led to write the song at the best of her abilities:

"With Natural Woman, I did have the thought: how do you follow Aretha? But then I realized, I'm the writer. Do it as I would do it."

And once she let go of the expectations placed upon herself, King was finally able to let go and enjoy the process fully.

"It was lovely, intimate and heartfelt -- me being me, allowing the music to come through me in the way that my music comes. So I wasn't intimidated."

Hudson had felt an incredible amount of pride at the time for being able to co-write such a heartfelt song with one of the greats.

"Such an honor to not only co-write a song with the legendary @carole_king, but to share a @variety cover too!"

Swift, on the other hand, will return the favor after being presented at the 2019's AMAs for Artist of the Decade. During her speech, King praised Swift's songwriting abilities:

"She is one of the only modern pop artists whose name, sometimes, appears as the sole songwriter in her song credits. Her lyrics resonate across all generations, her songs touch everyone and her impact around the world is extraordinary."

While accepting the recognition, Swift appeared extremely grateful for being presented by such an important role model:

"I cannot believe that it's Carole King who gave me this award. [...] When I fell in love with music, it was right around the time I realized how marvelous it was that an artist could transcend so many different phases and changes in people's lives. You taught me that that's a possibility."

And now, Swift will finally be able to give a speech for one of the artists that most defined her music. But she and Hudson won't be the only ones to induct important artists.

Angela Bassett will also induct Tina Turner, after playing her in 1993's What's Love Got To Do With It? with an incredible performance of Turner's repertoire by Christina Aguilera, Mickey Guyton, H.E.R. and Bryan Adams.

Drew Barrymore will present The Go-Go's; Lionel Richie will induct Clarence Avant and Paul McCartney will induct the Foo Fighters.

Finally, the event will take place on October 30th at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland and will air on HBO and HBO Max on November 20th.
