Everything We Learned From the 'Suicide Squad 2' Trailer

Just this morning, a trailer for the sequel to the 2016 supervillain action flick Suicide Squadis here, and we've got a LOT of details to comb over.

So Many Actors

The last Suicide Squad featured superstars like Jared Leto, Margot Robbie, Will Smith, and Viola Davis, among others, so it's not like we were short on big names to begin with.

But this trailer showed John Cena as Peacemaker, Pete Davidson as Blackguard, Idris Elba as Bloodsport, and Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flag (which one?).

Other names that appear on IMBD but not on screen are Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Nathan Fillion, and Sylvester Stallone.

Wow.

So Many New Villains!

We see King Shark, the lovable half man, half shark, seen most recently in the Harley Quinnanimated series on HBO Max. We seem to get a less gentle version of the villain than we did in the cartoons, but everyone loves a different spin.

Blackguard, the mercenary who can create weapons out of solid energy, will be portrayed by Pete Davidson.

Bloodsport, the crazy member of Lexcorp with an arsenal coming out of his pants, will be brought to life by Idris Elba.

Peacemaker, the bodysuitted super-soldier with a jetpack and a dream, will be played by John Cena.

Who's the Villain of the Villains?

Well, we don't know. What we did see was a giant crab leg looking thing destroy an entire building, so whatever it is, it's big. Here's our current theory:

So, probably not, but don't rule anything out.

Unclear How the Plot is Developing

This is the most exciting part: Suicide Squad is presumably the prelude to some sort of DC Cinematic Universe. So how will this one connect to the original Suicide Squad? How will the new characters factor in? How will the original cast progress? There's a lot to unravel, and hopefully James Gunn does it justice.
