It's final - Kim Kardashian West is officially parting ways with her husband of seven years, Kanye West.
As of February, Kim and Kanye had halted all communication as Kanye West moved out of their family home in Los Angeles to relocate to his $14 million ranch in Wyoming.
According to E! News, Kim foresaw their union ending soon, a source stating "They've seen each other for the sake of the kids but have been living separately. Kim knows the marriage is over. She's known for a while." Any and all hesitation came with the interest of the couples' four children: North West, 7, Saint West, 5, Chicago West, 3, and Psalm West, 20 months.
A Mother Above it All
Apparently, the split is occurring amicably, as Kim asks for joint legal and physical custody of their children, and Kanye abides, sources told TMZ today. There is a prenuptial agreement in place, and the couple is working toward reaching a property settlement agreement.
It has been a tumultuous year for the superstar couple. Kanye West launched his presidential campaign, wherein he seemed to have had a very public episode, emotionally recalling a discussion between him and his wife about aborting their first child, North. This event was followed by a Twitter rant in which the famous rapper went off about Kim's family, calling his mother-in-law, Kris Jenner "Kris Jong-Un", among other rocky instances.
The couple's love story began in 2012 when dating rumors swirled. The following year, Kim finalized her divorce from Chris Humphries and became pregnant with her and Kanye's first child, North West. That same year, Kanye proposed to Kim in San Francisco at AT&T Park. Finally, the couple wed in Florence, Italy on May 24, 2014. Their three children and the rest of their marriage ensued.
From Engagement to Divorce
While this will be Kanye's first divorce, this is Kim's third. Her first was with music producer Damon Thomas in 2004, and her second was ten years ago in 2011 from American basketball player Chris Humphries.
Perhaps more details of the split will reveal themselves in the 20th and final season of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, premiering on Thursday, March 18 on E!.
