Weekend Update

"Live from New York" may take on a different meaning.

Saturday Night Live EP Lorne Michaels gave fans three episodes at-home specials as the country continues to battle COVID-19. Now, Michaels and his team are talking about ways to move episodes from the cast members' homes back to Studio 8H in NBC's 30 Rockefeller Plaza.

Taking a cue

Michaels and his team are working hard to create a new normal for the show's 46th season. NBC has yet to comment their plans for the new season but one strategy could be taking a cue from The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon set. This would include safety precautions including no audience and a camera crew with masks on. Guests could appear through video chat and bands could socially distance themselves.

More sketches to come

During the pandemic, cast members did at home sketches like Chloe Fineman's impression of Jojo Siwa, the popular "Weekend Update", cameos from Paul Rudd, and hosts including Tom Hanks and Brad Pitt. Many are itching to get back into the studio, especially with the presidential election coming around.

We're excited to see how SNL brings back production for fans of the long-running sketch show!
