A Rotation of Presenters

The 93rd Oscars will not be having a host, similar to the past two year's ceremonies. Rather, the plan is to have a rotation of A-list talents present each category.

Previous Hosts

The last official host for the Academy Awards was Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel also hosted the year before, during the Moonlight (2016) and La La Land (2016) Best Picture mix up.

Hosting Scandals

There have only been a handful of non-white hosts for the awards show, with the last being Chris Rock back in 2016. After Kimmel's back to back hosting gig the following two years, comedian Kevin Hart was set to host the 2019 show. However, Hart did step down after insensitive comments from his past resurfaced, insulting members of the LGBTQ+ community.

Since then, there has not been a host at the Academy Awards.

Where is the Show Taking Place?

For 18 years, the Oscars have taken place at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. While it is speculated that the theater will still be in use for the performances of the night, the awards will be officially hosted at Union Station in Downtown Los Angeles.

Following Covid-19 Protocols

The reasoning behind the location change is due to Covid-19 protocols. To maintain social distancing between fellow nominees and their families, a relocation was mandatory with Union Station being much more spacious than Dolby Theatre.
