Carl Nassib came out on Monday as the first active gay NFL player. Since the announcement, he has received a flood of support from the public and the NFL just made a substantial move to show their support as well.
Carl Nassib Posts in Support of The Trevor Project
Las Vegas Raiders defensive end Carl Nassib proudly shared his truth this week and as a result his jersey sales have shot up to the best-seller in the league. The public is heavily supporting Nassib as he came out and announced his $100,000 donation to The Trevor Project.
The Trevor Project is the number one organization in the nation for crisis and suicide prevention among LGBTQ+ youth. The all-around support for Nassib has been great and watching other celebrities, players, and fans react has been very positive.
NFL Matches Nassib's Donation
The NFL has sparked lots of controversy surrounding inclusion and equity in the past (Colin Kaepernick faced a ton of backlash in the league). The league matched Nassib's donation on Tuesday and the statement on "diversity, equity, and inclusion" was positive despite the league's troubled history with these topics.
