A new dance film is in the works at Lionsgate starring and executive produced by Jennifer Grey sparking Dirty Dancing sequel rumors.
No one puts Jennifer Grey in a corner! According to Deadline, The Golden Globe nominated actress is working with Lionsgate, who hold the distribution rights to the Dirty Dancing films, on a new dancing film set in the 1990's. While no details have been confirmed yet, many speculate that the new project could be a sequel to the 1987 cult classic dance film in which Grey played teenager Baby.
Dirty Dancing follows Baby as she spend the summer in the Catskills at a fancy resort with her family where she falls for the mysterious dance instructor Johnny Castle, played by the late Patrick Swayze. The film won an Oscar and Golden Globe for Best Original Song, "I've Had the Time of my Life."
In a very serendipitous way, Mountain Lake Lodge in Giles County, VA, where the movie was filmed, is filling up with water again after completely drying up 12 years ago. Even mother nature wants a Dirty Dancing sequel!
Fans hope for new details to be released soon so they can break out their leotards and scrunchies and practice their lifts.
