After releasing only one season of music-appreciation series High Fidelity, Hulu has decided to cancel the show led by Zoë Kravitz.
Goodbye, "High Fidelity"
After one season of the reimagining of the original book and then film adaptation, High Fidelity will not go on for more seasons. The series gender-swapped the lead, who was originally male, into the female-driven series it is with Kravitz leading the show alongside her two best friends, Simon and Cherise, portrayed by David Holmes and Da'Vine Joy Randolph, respectively.
The cancellation comes after the season scored a high Rotten Tomatoes rating of 86% among critics and 82% among audiences. EW spoke with High Fidelity EP Sarah Kucserka about how she and co-creator, Veronica West, wanted to update the story and give it a modern-day touch. She said:
"Any time we pitched it, people were like, 'Yes, oh my God, that makes so much sense!' To have this kind of a woman, not to mention a woman of color, that we don't see very often on screen felt like we got to reimagine and refresh the idea in a whole new way."
High Fidelity was picked up over two years ago and was supposed to premiere on Disney+, but instead found a home at Hulu.
