Emile Hirsch on 'Son' | Celebrity Page

Emile Hirsch of 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood' now stars in the psychological thriller 'Son' as a detective who's investigating an alleged cult kidnapping.

Emile Hirsch is taking 2021 by storm with a new film and album, all released in the past couple of weeks.

'Son' (2021)

Hirsch stars in the psychological thriller Son (2021) as a detective investigating an attempted kidnapping. Co-star Andi Matichak plays a former cult member who believes her son is being possessed by her past cult.

Hirsch states,

"She doesn't know if she's insane or if the cult is actually trying to kidnap her son and it's just sort of a puzzle piece of the movie, and I'm a detective that's sort of like trying to help her figure out what her past really is."

Hirsch goes on to compare the film to highly acclaimed thrillers,

"You just, you don't know what's going on sort of until the very close and that's part of the fun of the movie is trying to piece it together, and it's really scary. It's kind of in the vein of 'Rosemary's Baby' or 'Exorcist.'"

No Stranger to the Big Screen

Hirsch is familiar to the industry, known for her roles in Into the Wild (2007) and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (2019). When asked about working with Sean Penn, Hirsch has nothing but good memories.

Hirsch said:

"I mean, I remember on 'Milk,' I was like Sean is so good, like he's just gonna win the Oscar. He's winning."

'Denihilism'

If you're a fan of 80's nostalgia, Hirsch also released an album titled Denihilism (2021).

He said:

"So, if you're into that kind of like 80's nostalgic throwback vibe, it's right in there."

Son is able for viewing in theaters and on demand now.
