AnnaSophia Robb spills about Peacock's Dr. Death.

The popular podcast "Dr. Death" is now a true-crime series streaming on Peacock.

Dr. Death tells the real-life story of Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a Texas spinal surgeon who left over 30 patients severely injured or dead and sentenced to life in prison as a result of his malpractice.

Duntsch is played by Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson. Veteran actors Alec Baldwin and Christian Slater play fellow surgeons attempting to take Duntsch down with the help of attorney Michelle Shughart, portrayed by actress AnnaSophia Robb.

Robb, best known for her starring roles in Bridge to Terabithia and Soul Surfer, spoke to Advocate Channel's Senior Correspondent Arthur Kade all about the new series.

"So it's really a story about what made the man, how he was able to hurt so many people, and the system that enabled him," Robb said of the show.

When asked about the caliber of actors that comprise this all-star cast and her excitement level, Robb said:

Every day I felt that way, and I'm doing a scene across from Christian Slater and Alec Baldwin and try to boss them around and tell them how I am going to win their case. It was a surreal experience.

Acting aside, Dr. Death is based on real events, and Robb gave us insight into what makes the show truly frightening.

"But I think what's really scary and what the real true crime is, and I think our show highlights this, is the true-crime of the systems that are meant to protect people and end up hurting them under the guise of helping," the actress said.
