HBO Max announced the major A-list cast for Steven Soderbergh's new crime thriller, No Sudden Moves.
The film is set to star David Harbour, Jon Hamm, Don Cheadle, Ray Liotta, Benicio Del Toro, Kieran Culkin, Brendan Fraser, Noah Jupe, Bill Duke, Frankie Shaw, and Julia Fox. According to Warner Media:
"Written by Ed Solomon, the film is set in 1955 Detroit and centers on a group of small-time criminals who are hired to steal what they think is a simple document. When their plan goes horribly wrong, their search for who hired them – and for what ultimate purpose – weaves them through all echelons of the race-torn, rapidly changing city."
In the same statement, Soderbergh shared:
"The last time I shot a movie in Detroit with a great script and a great cast things worked out really well, so I'm very excited behind my mask right now."
Soderbergh is no stranger to film, as he won an Academy Award in 2001 for directing the film Traffic which also happened to star Del Toro and Cheadle. Soderbergh has directed over 40 projects including independent films, TV movies and series which have all been critically acclaimed including Sex, Lies, and Videotapes, Erin Brockovich Logan Lucky, and High Flying Bird.

Casey Silver is producing the HBO Max and Warner Bros. Pictures film, which is shooting on-location under strict COVID-19 safety protocols in Detroit beginning September 28. Toby Emmerich, Chairman of Warner Bros. Pictures Group said in a statement:
"Steven is a prolific, forward-thinking director who has a two-decade history of making movies at Warner Bros. We look forward to continuing his legacy at WarnerMedia with his intense crime thriller."
Casey Bloys, Chief Content Officer for HBO and HBO Max also stated:
"It's a pleasure to begin production on another project with Steven Soderbergh, Casey Silver and Ed Solomon, We have an incredible partner in Warner Bros. Pictures and an extraordinarily talented cast – we couldn't be happier to bring No Sudden Move to HBO Max."
The film was previously titled Kill Switch but was forced to halt production earlier this year due to the pandemic. George Clooney, John Cena and Sebastian Stan, were set to star in the film but dropped out because they were no longer available. HBO Max is also set to release another Soderbergh project, Let Them All Talk, starring Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen, Dianne Wiest, Lucas Hedges, and Gemma Chan and expected to be available on HBO Max some time this year.
