Celebrities Join George Floyd Protests: Halsey, Ariana Grande, J.Cole And More

In response to the death of George Floyd, celebrities are taking a stand and speaking out.

This past weekend, celebrities have used their platforms for good, posting petitions and organizations to donate to in response to the death of George Floyd. Here are just some of the celebrities who took to the streets to show their support for #BlackLivesMatter.

Halsey and Yungblud

Singer Halsey and her ex-boyfriend and rapper Yungblud were seen out on the streets of West Hollywood on Saturday, May 30th. Following the protests, she took to Twitter to show her dismay of the police's response, using tear gas and shooting rubber bullets. She also credits Yungblud's heroism as he ran in front of these shots to help wounded protesters to safety.

J. Cole

Rapper J. Cole was seen protesting in downtown Fayetteville, North Carolina. Fan account, @fortheloveofjcole posted a series of pictures of the rapper taking part in protests.

Emily Ratajkowski

On Sunday, May 31st, model Emily Ratajkowski posted several pictures and videos on her IG story of protests taking place. Videos include crowds marching down Sunset Boulevard with signs saying "I Can't Breathe" following the death of George Floyd. Ratakjowski also adds a photo of a sign that she brought to the protest.

Ariana Grande

Singer Ariana Grande took part in a protest that ran through Beverly Hills and West Hollywood on Sunday, May 31st. In response to a tweet by Tinashe, Grande testifies her own experience, saying that protests can happen peacefully.


Singer Tinashe took to Instagram to post pictures of her holding up a sign and getting involved in the protests. Here, she captions the photo with a simple, "Show up." encouraging fans to show their support for the movement.

Paris Jackson

Paris Jackson is all about advocating for peace on her social media platforms. This Sunday, May 31st she tweeted two photos of herself holding up a sign amid the smoke and fires.

Nina Dobvrev and Shaun White

Actress Nina Dobrev and Olympic snowboarder Shaun White take part in protests on Saturday, May 30th. In an IG post, she expresses how the protest moved her and encourages fans to fight against the injustice.

Nick Cannon

Actor Nick Cannon took to the streets of Minneapolis on Saturday, May 30th. In his IG photos, he is seen holding a sign that says "Justice For Floyd" as he protests in the city in which Floyd was killed. His sweatshirt has the words "Please I Can't Breathe" written on it, showing his defiance against the unjust death of Floyd.

It is always important for celebrities to use their voice to spread good. In the age of social media, seeing these celebrities go out and fight for what they believe in is highly influential. We hope to see celebrities continue taking a stand and inspiring many more to do the same.
