HBO's newest special, Coastal Elites, features an all-star cast and takes on quarantined Hollywood.
Bette Midler, Dan Levy (Schitt's Creek), Sarah Paulson (American Horror Story), Issa Rae (Insecure), and Kaitlyn Dever (Booksmart) join virtually "together" to satirize our current political climate through the lens of our new normal.
Each actor is alone on screen performing a monologue as various characters that face hot button issues. Dever's is a young nurse working during the peak of the pandemic in New York and Rae plays a woman who went to school with Ivanka Trump.
Coastal Elites, written by Paul Rudnick, was originally created for the Public Theater in New York but they had to reevaluate their creative vision due to the COVID-19 pandemic, thus taking on this new era of television — socially distanced, virtual acting.
Coastal Elites premieres on HBO on September 12 at 8 p.m.
