Issa Rae is producing a two-part documentary for HBO on the history of black representation on television, entitled Seen & Heard.
Seen & Heard will give an inside look into the trailblazer that diversified and revolutionized television for black creatives. It will include interviews and archival footage with these trailblazers of the past and present.
HBO announced the collaboration at its Television Critics Association session this Wednesday, where Rae spoke about the project, saying:
"Black people have such a rich, but often unacknowledged history in Hollywood. We have defined American culture and influenced generations time and time again across the globe. I'm honored to pair with Ark Media to center and celebrate the achievements of those who paved a way for so many of us to tell our stories on television."
In addition to this new project, Rae is also set to produce the thriller Sinkhole with Jordan Peele, as well as star in pandemic comedy Coastal Elites with Bette Middler and Sarah Paulson.
Coming off her double Emmy nomination for her HBO series Insecure, Rae proves to be the perfect choice for a discussion of black excellence on television.
