SNL Recap: Issa Rae Hosts and Justin Bieber Performs New Song

Debate recaps, exes and first dates, and much more.

Another weekend, another Saturday Night Live recap. On this week's episode, Issa Rae made her first debut hosting the hit show with musical guest Justin Bieber (and a surprise appearance from Chance the Rapper) to make it even better. Here's a look at the highlights of the show:

Meeting exes on a first date:

Ever had an ex crash your first date? Ever had 3 exes crash your first date? Issa Rae's character has - and they're all quite unique. First, her street vendor ex comes up to the table - making the guy on the date a little confused. Then comes "Karate Man" and even "Robot." Talk about an interesting night.

Awkward dancing:

Kyle Mooney desperately wants to be Justin Bieber's backup dancer for the show... and he tries to win Issa's heart in order for her to tell Justin about his awesome dance moves. Things don't turn out how he wanted it to, but he still danced his awkward heart out.

Quarantine online shopping:

We all bought something online during quarantine that we swore we were going to use. Maybe it was a craft kit, an instrument, or new cooking gadget - but you actually never touched it once. This skit makes fun of all of the quarantine impulsive buyers with an ad for eBay to sell all of those items now just laying around your house.

Bonjour, Hi!

Bonjour Hi is Canada's new American-French newscast... and it's quite the show. It's the perfect mix of both countries, but for some reason all they want to do is find their Canadian beloved rapper Drake.

Justin Bieber performs new song 'Lonely':

Justin Bieber performed his newest song "Lonely" where he talks about how lonely he has felt in his fame and fortune. A monumental lyric: "Everybody knows my past now, like my house was always made of glass. And maybe that's the price you pay for the money and fame at an early age."

Justin Bieber and Chance the Rapper sing "Holy"

And a little bit lighter song to the previous, Justin and Chance the Rapper sang their hit song 'Holy' for the show.

Be on the lookout for next week's Saturday Night Live episode, where Adele hosts with musical guest H.E.R.
